CLOTHING AT TENOVERSIX!

BODKIN BROOKLYN & SAMANTHA PLEET
Sometimes, we just can’t help ourselves. Yes, our focus here at TenOverSix is decidedly on those special extras, the accessories. But then, some RTW designers go ahead and make it impossible for us to resist. This was the case with Bodkin and Samantha Pleet. See below why we love them, and why you need some of that in your Spring wardrobe ladies! Quantities Limited.

Recipient of the first ever Ecco Domani Sustainable Design Award, BODKIN Brooklyn shows us that eco doesn’t need to be hippy. Designer Eviana Hartman, a former fashion editor, delivers harder-edged pieces than one would expect from a garment made of Bamboo fiber, recycled Plastic bottles(!), or Organic Cotton, for that matter. Though the pieces exude Brooklyn cool, she started the line with intellectual curiosity.

-”I started Bodkin (with the help of my talented former partner, Samantha Pleet) not because I felt there weren’t enough amazing clothes out there—there are—but because too few of them are made with regard to anything other than how they look. Is it possible to achieve a certain aesthetic while adhering to a rigorous standard of sustainability in materials? What about the rest of what sustainability means—fair labor, local versus global, and the question of utility in an industry that trades on desire? These are questions I’ll look at in this space.” -Eviana

And while BODKIN makes us think (and feel just a little bit smarter wearing her wares), Samantha Pleet brings us that dose of fun we embrace come springtime. A cult-favorite among New Yorkers for good reason, Samantha Pleet can be counted on to deliver the whimsical, fantastical and fun pieces we all need sometimes. Her rompers and peplum, sweetheart dresses make for a very sweet spring. A multi-talented designer who not only dresses bands (she has developed a specialty in dressing indie bands such as Au Revoir Simone, Apache Beat, Grizzly Bear, Yeasayer, and Holy Hail), but real girls too. Come check them out before they are gone!
